After only eight months of being married, the “Every Little Thing” singer-songwriter filed for divorce from the “Her World or Mine” singer last Friday (6/19/20). Michael Ray and Cary Pearce’s reps confirmed to PEOPLE.
“This was a hard decision. It wasn’t something she wanted to have to do,” a source close to Pearce tells PEOPLE. “This hasn’t been a quarantine realization — it was a last resort.”
Ray, 32, and Pearce, 30, last appeared in public together on June 6, when they both performed without a live audience at the Grand Ole Opry. They were joined on the bill by Steve Wariner and Lee Brice (Pearce’s duet partner on their #1 song “I Hope You’re Happy Now”).
This news breaks my heart. I’m friends with both Michael and Carly. They are some of the most amazing people I’ve come to know.
