Maren Morris Said She Might Not Go To The CMAs And The Internet Is Speaking

 The “L.A. Times“ asked Maren Morris to talk about her dispute with Brittany Aldean. Maren had a lot to say, but this part was really interesting. She thinks more country artists should speak their minds. 

Maren actually thinks country artists should speak their minds from the very beginning.  She said, “[I say] let people know where you stand. The ones who don’t get it will fall away, but the ones that stick with you will know what they’re contributing to.”

A good example, ironically, is Brittany’s husband Jason Aldean. He used to keep his politics to himself, but he’s been more outspoken lately. She added, quote, “That’s his prerogative. And he probably knows, ‘Okay, I’m gonna lose my liberal fans.’ But the ones that stay I’m sure feel extremely close to him through all this.”

The downside of being outspoken is that you’ll probably say something you’ll regret. They asked what would happen if she ran into Brittany and Jason at the CMAs. She said, quote, “Honestly, I haven’t decided if I’m gonna go.”

“I’m very honored that my record is nominated.  But I don’t know if I feel [at] home there right now. So many people I love will be in that room, and maybe I’ll make a game-time decision and go. But as of right now, I don’t feel comfortable going.”

I have a feeling she’ll eventually walk that one back and go. Don’t blame the awards shows. They had nothing to do with anything. They’re just recognizing the work of country artists. If anything, thank them. Getting your face on TV is free advertising that sells records, concert tickets, and helps build your brand. Period.

Of course the Internet never fails and people had thoughts about her statement. Naturally, some supported her: “You should go, don’t let them win.”…”Serious respect for Maren and all the good she uses her voice for.” 

Others didn’t: “Please, do everyone a favor and don’t show up.”….”Boo-hoo. Maren is afraid. Grow up. This just makes you look desperate for attention.” and…”This is nothing but a stunt to garner public support and sympathy.”
