No doubt Maren Morris had good intentions when she apologized to the LGBTQ+ community on last Friday’s episode of “RuPaul’s Drag Race”. Now I could be wrong here…but it did sound like she was trying to represent all of country music. Which she doesn’t. Last I checked.
Now, someone in “country music”…namely Thompson Square…has taken issue with that. Yesterday they tweeted, “didn’t realize there was a spokesperson for all of country music these days.”
They aren’t wrong. Country folks are fine at running our own mouths. Trust me. Mine runs on its own perfectly well. I grew up loving and being around country music. Been a part of the business since 1999 and I was always taught. You treat people how you want be treated. It’s that simple.
For Maren Morris to act like country music is full of hateful people is simply false. They’re absolutely some shitty individuals in the business, but shitty people are everywhere…unfortunately.
