About a month ago, Keith Urban triggered a social media debate about standing at concerts. He posted a picture, praising a sign at a venue in Las Vegas that said, “Guests are encouraged to stand during the performance.” Naturally, that rubbed some salt in the old standers vs. sitters debate.
About half Keith’s followers celebrated the post, saying that it’s no fun to sit at concerts and everyone should be up and dancing. Others complained that they pay good money for a seat and people standing blocks their view.
Some people pointed out that standing always benefits taller people and sitting makes it easier for everyone (which makes sense) to see, especially older people, younger people, shorter people, and disabled people.
