Here we ago again.
Charley Crockett went ahead and got on his Instagram app and stirred some shit up. He shared a message about his feelings towards the ‘Gulf of Mexico’ being renamed.
It appears that he’s not a fan of change when he disagrees with it. One of the first things that President Trump did to kick off his second term was piss off people in the “Gulf of Mexico” region. He signed an executive order, Executive Order 14172: “Restoring Names That Honor American Greatness” to be exact, that renamed the “Gulf of Mexico” to the “Gulf of America”.
Trump signed that thing back on January 20th of this year…Charley felt the need to give his opinion on the matter on October 7th. Yes. Nine months past the signing of that particular order.
Here’s what the Texas native had to say about it…
“I was born on the Gulf Of Mexico. I don’t recognize it by any other name. Any real Texan knows that our Mexican American brothers and sisters hold up our economy in every industry. I’m proud to have been born in the Rio Grande Valley where the population is over 90% Latino.
If those boys in Washington D.C. wanna go renaming regions of this country, they can start with New England. Because it ain’t new and it ain’t England.”
Now I like some of Charley’s music. He’s pretty damn country to me. As a proud Texan myself though…I think Charley is full of shit here. It’s not just one race that holds the economy our country up. It’s all of us, Charley.
Full of shit? Hey man, if you care about your damn heritage shouldn’t other people? It’s the Gulf of Mexico!
