This man is a man of many words…and who knew he could write poems after a night of drinking.
Blake Shelton went viral for a humorous, “spicy” poem he wrote and recited for his friend Jason Aldean. The special reading of the poem took place March 19, 2026 during a surprise celebration at the 2026 Country Radio Seminar (CRS) in Nashville to honor Jason achieving 31 number-one hits.
Blake did point out how he’s not “really a poem writer” and he said, “I did write this down…and I had been drinking like I said.” He also pointed out he didn’t have a chance to edit or review his poem for Jason before reading it in a public setting. And he told the audience, “I’m just going to read this to you guys as as I wrote it down. This is from my heart though…okay.” Some people obviously laughed about that and Blake said, “what the f*ck is funny about that?”
The poem was called “Jason Aldean, That’s What Mean, by Blake Shelton”, and the name has a nice ring to it too.
The poem talked about where Jason grew up and the first CRS where Blake and Jason met. Blake praised Jason’s successful career by saying it was made possible, “out of the songs that I have passed on.”
Blake talked about how Jason is pretty outspoken saying, “I believe he’s just a patriotic guy, but it be just be his alcohol and drug abuse. I love Jason’s voice and the that way that he sings because it’s so gravelly and porous. I bet he blend incredibly well on a duet with Maren Morris.”
The audience booed at that Maren Morris part, which was comedy gold and Blake asked, “what? Is she here or something?”
Blake of course praised Jain for building BMG in Nashville while taking a jab at Dustin Lynch saying, “Jason is the guy who made BMG the hottest label in this town…I wish they’d stop working with Dustin Lynch. Seriously, what the f*ck is that sound?”
And in Blake fashion he closed his heartfelt poem by saying “congratulations, Jason, on a hell of a feat, and I pray that Luke Bryan ain’t here.” I mean it was a beautiful poem to me.
