Y’all, we’re safe from Florida Georgia Line.
It was a great day for country music in 2022 when Florida Georgia Line announced that they had in fact played their final show as a duo, with Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard going their separate ways so they could pursue their own solo careers.
Hubbard obviously has had more success of the two as a solo artist, with a #1 single and two solo albums already to date, including his latest project “Strong” which dropped last week.
Meanwhile, Kelley released his first solo album “Sunshine State of Mind” in 2021 and he’s set to drop his newest upcoming album “Tennessee Truth” this year. He released the first single, “Kiss My Boots”, from it and a lot of people have interpreted that song to be a shot at his former FGL bandmate.
BK of course never specifically said the song was about the duos rumored drama that led to the band’s ultimate split, but it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to read between the lines. We know and we hear you Mr. Kelley.
Hubbard took a different approach when he was asked about the song. He released a prepared statement to People wishing his former bandmate nothing but the best on his solo career:
“I’m happy for BK, and I hope he’s happy and that he’s doing his thing and I’m doing my thing. I want only good things for him, and I wish him the best.
It was a cool season of life, and I wouldn’t trade it for the world, but I don’t want it back. I’m in a way different place, and I wouldn’t trade it.”
Kelley basically made same statement last year, when he threw cold water on the flames and the idea of any FGL reunion:
“Respectfully, I can tell you that’s not happening.”
We can all sleep safe and sound knowing we’re safe from any more FGL music…at least in the foreseeable future. Prayers have been received and answered.
