Lainey Wilson has been waiting for this moment for a long time and her reaction said it all.
NBC’s The Voice had their season finale last night and the Louisiana girl herself was invited to perform on the show. That wasn’t even the highlight of the night for Lainey. Her musical hero, Reba, also invited her in front of God and America to become the next member of the Grand Ole Opry.
The Voice’s Carson Daly invited Reba up to say a few words on to Lainey after her performance and proceeded to surprise her with the invitation she’s been waiting for:
“Lainey, I am so proud of you. You did a wonderful job, and I have heard that I have inspired you and what you’ve done so far.
And I am thrilled to death if I have anything to do with your career ‘cuz you are blowing it up.
“I was so proud of you at the ACM’s the other night, and I couldn’t be more proud to be the one that helps you continue to bride the gap between our generations, keep ’em all going.
I’d like to be the person to invite you to be a member, official member, of the Grand Ole Opry.”
Lainey was humble as always, clearly in shock, understandably very emotional and she took a second to gather her thoughts as she fully realized what was happening. She gave Reba a big hug, tears came and it was very obvious at that point just how much the moment meant to her after years of hard work just to be able to get to that invite.
Lainey always knew she wanted to perform on the Grand Ole Opry stage since she was a little girl. Now she’s officially a small part of the country family thanks to Reba and the Grand Ole Opry.
