Most criminals do not bother to think. This guy on the other hand may have overthought his situation.
A 39-year-old man in Indiana named Beau Burchel was sitting in his car last Thursday, when he saw a delivery truck full of beer and liquor pull up outside an establishment called Cheers Bar.
He thought to himself something along the lines of, “If I stole that truck, I could open up my own liquor store, and sell off all that booze…to pay off my drug debts.” So, he did it.
He successfully stole the truck along with a skid steer loader…and spent hours dismantling the security systems and GPS devices on both. I mean some criminals know how to dismantle some high level…stuff.
Unfortunately, you’d also have to hide the vehicles from being spotted, and he wasn’t able to do that. Police found the delivery truck in a field behind a club, and Beau was found under a nearby bush.
The stolen skid steer allegedly has a value of more than $60,000.
The box truck was estimated to be worth $50,000…and the alcohol was still inside it. Police say there was $12,000 in assorted beer and liquor.
Beau was booked on several preliminary felony theft charges.
