Zach Top Covered Shenandoah’s “Two Dozen Roses” During His Acoustic Set at Watershed Fest

First off Shenandoah’s “Two Dozen Roses” is best sang by Shenandoah. There’s absolutely no arguing this.

Zach Top knows what in the hell he’s doing though. I mean the man is the real deal when it comes to giving the world true authentic traditional country music. If you think it’s a gimmick…you’re ducking…I mean fucking rude. Spell check is a bitch.

Zach said in an interview on the Wrangler Western podcast, “It’s not like a 90’s gimmick thing…this is all I know how to do. It’s not like I made the choice to be the 90’s throwback guy. I grew up listening and learning from the same guys that all those 90’s guys would’ve been influenced by.” You are who listen too. Let’s be real.

Anyway…Zach recently did the world a favor by covering one of the greatest country songs of all time, “Two Dozen Roses”, during his acoustic set at Watershed Fest in George, WA.

Side note here. “Two Dozen Roses”, was also originally written by Mac McAnally and Robert Byrne and was released by Shenandoah in 1989 as the fourth single from their sophomore record, “The Road Not Taken”. Which was a damn fine album by the way.

While the song has obviously been covered numerous times by a lot of people over the last few decades, it’s better suited for the 35ish year-old singer Zach Top, he’s one of the few who are trusted to perform this song in public.
