Garth Brooks has been accused of sexual assault and battery in a lawsuit filed yesterday in Los Angeles.
Here’s what’s being reported so far. A longtime makeup artist and stylist for Trisha Yearwood and Garth alleged that Garth raped her during a work trip in 2019.
The lawsuit was filed under the name “Jane Roe” to keep her anonymity. She had been working for Trisha since 1999, but in 2017 she started working for Garth, too.
Apparently, the lawsuit itself is incredibly graphic, and she alleges that he sexually assaulted her on multiple occasions. It is also alleged that “John Doe” or Garth Brooks went to federal court in Mississippi recently in order to stop the lawsuit from becoming public.
Garth denied the accusations in court and claimed that if “Jane Roe’s” allegations were released to the public it would do, quote, “substantial, irreparable damage” to his reputation and livelihood. It looks like “Jane Roe” is moving forward with her accusations.
In a statement submitted to Deadline last night, Garth strongly denied the allegations, again. He said, “for the last two months, I have been hassled to no end with threats, lies, and tragic tales of what my future would be if I did not write a check for many millions of dollars.
“It has been like having a loaded gun waved in my face” and he’s standing firm in his innocence.
He went on to say that he refuses to pay the “hush money”, because “in my mind that means I am admitting to behavior I am incapable of—ugly acts no human should ever do to another.” Which makes sense. If you truly didn’t do what you’re being accused of…you should never admit guilt.
He ended the statement by saying, “I trust the system. I do not fear the truth, and I am not the man they have painted me to be.” Let’s hope the system finds the truth in all of this.
