Morgan Wallen’s new song “Love Somebody” was released a week and a half ago and has already become the #1 song on Billboard’s Hot 100.
In doing so, he has dethroned Shaboozey, who had a 15-week run of being on top with “A Bar Song (Tipsy)”. Shaboozey was only one week away from tying Morgan’s song, “Last Night”, which dominated the charts last year.
The all-time record is held by Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus who saw “Old Town Road” on top of the chart for 19 weeks back in 2019. Which in my humble opinion might be the worst performance and song to ever grace the Opry stage.
Both Morgan and Shaboozey are in elite company. In the 66 years since the creation of Billboard’s Hot 100, only 4% of all number one songs have led the chart for double-digit weeks.
