Jamey Johnson Was Arrested for Drug Possession and Speeding In Williamson County, TN

WTVF out of Franklin, TN is reporting that country singer-songwriter Jamey Johnson was arrested in Williamson County this past weekend, according to authorities.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol wrote in a statement saying, “we can confirm that Jamey Johnson was arrested on Sunday, November 17 in Williamson County. The incident is still under investigation”.

He was apparently charged with possession of drugs and speeding, according to the Mobile Patrol app. The district attorney’s office overseeing Williamson County confirmed the arrest, but wouldn’t confirm the charges. His bond was set at $5,000. I bet it was just weed. Darius Rucker got bust with a little smoke back in February of 2024.

Williamson County court records are now showing that Jamey was charged with one count of possession with intent to manufacture, deliver or sell a controlled substance. And the specific subsection of the law cited in his charges gives us even more information.

He was charged with a violation of Tennessee Code 39-17-417 (G)(1). Subsection (G)(1) of the code deals with marijuana possession, and it states that possession of between half an ounce to 10 pounds of marijuana is a Class E felony punishable by up to one to six years in prison and up to a $5,000 fine. Tennessee needs to calm down.

Jamey has been a singer-songwriter since 2005 and his first album “The Dollar” was as released in 2006. It was a country masterpiece too. He’s written with Willie NelsonMerle Haggard and King George Strait to name a few.

He just released his first album in 14 years called, “Midnight Gasoline”, as of Friday November 8th . Which is hands down one of the best country albums from one the best country singer-songwriters to grace country music in a while.
