Have you ever watched a horse race and thought, “big deal, I could do that”? Not jockeying the horse…but outrunning the horses.
There’s a new poll out on running swagger, where 2,000 people were apparently asked which animals they thought they’d be able to outrun.
And 2% believe they could outrun a horse in a 100-meter dash.
For what it’s worth, the fastest horse ever recorded managed a speed of more than 40 miles per hour, and Usain Bolt’s fastest speed was 28 miles per hour. So, the idea of human beings running faster than a horse is a little silly.
27% of people are confident they could outrun a crocodile, which can run around 10 miles per hour on land. 20% believe they could outrun an elephant, which can run more than 20 miles per hour.
Another 11% of people think they could outsprint a house cat for around 30 feet, even if a cat would be able to outlast them over a full 100 meters.
