Akon, The Rapper Who’s Famous for “Smack That”, Is Going Country

Quick question here. If Tupac was still alive, would he go country?

I didn’t think when Alan Jackson sang “Gone Country” in 1994 that was really going happen 31 years later, but here we are. Now It looks like Akon, the rapper, is the next artist to want to crossover into the country genre.

Akon recently told “TMZ”, quote, “I’m actually redoing my whole catalog in country. I’m not even joking.”

He went on to say, “this project has been in motion for the last five years. But starting next month, y’all gonna start seeing the releases.”

It sounds like he found some major country artists to collaborate with and he will play more of a guest role. Unless this is all a joke. Maybe it just a joke? Please let it be, because I don’t feel some of these people really care for country music. I feel they just want try to capitalize on it and earn some money in the best genre of music ever created. That’s just me though.

I also personally can’t picture Smack That being a country twanger with fiddles and a steel guitar. I guess as long as he gets some help from Cooper Alan and Thomas Mac though…he might be alright.
