Casey Donahew has been busy at his week one of this year’s “Boots On The Beach” in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
I say week one, because there are total of three weeks of “Boots On The Beach” in 2025 with this week of June 15th through the 19th being week one. The other two weeks are July 6th through the 10th and July 27th through the 31st. Tequila and country music in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. What more could you ask for?
I could ask for a tribute to the late great Charlie Robison and that’s exactly what happened. Wade Bowen, Mike Ryan and Josh Abbott led a tribute to Charlie with “El Cerrito Place”.
Keith Gattis originally wrote and recorded the song for his own album, ‘Big City Blues’ in 2002. However, the song actually gained some real recognition when Charlie Robison included it on his album ‘Good Times’ in 2004. Kenny Chesney also took a run with the song in 2012 when he released the song as a single from his album ‘Welcome to the Fishbowl’.
God rest their souls. Keith Gattis passed away April 23, 2023 and Charlie Robinson passed September 10, 2023. In my mind “El Cerrito Place” will always be a Charlie song to me.
Wade Bowen, Mike Ryan, Josh Abbott, Gracie York, Casey Donahew and Tyler Farr made “El Cerrito Place” sound beautiful in Mexico.
