Briley King has been showing up in my TikTok and other social feeds of her covering Vicki Lawrence’s 1973 “The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia”. Then Reba released her cover of the song in 1991 and that really put the song on the map.
So, before taking the stage at the Marcus King Band Family Reunion a few weeks back, Briley was backstage playing around with her husband Marcus King’s band and they did a cover of “The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia”. She sang the hell out that song too.
Then I saw a video with Dana Hayes, Ella Langley and Briley posted of them lip sync singing this song together.
There’s even a post with Ernest and Briley’s husband Marcus King floating around now too. I mean if new recorded version is coming due the teasing of this…please let it happen. The world is ready for another cover of “The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia”.
