Chris Young may or may not have been really enjoying the release of his ninth studio album (we’re not country the Christmas album), “I Didn’t Come Here To Leave”, which dropped everywhere last Friday (10/17/25).
He graced the stage at ‘Boots In The Park’ over the weekend in Tucson, Arizona. He was obviously the hired headliner for the night after Dustin Lynch, Tucker Wetmore, Avery Anna and a few more were nice enough to get the crowd ready for Chris. Fans were apparently not impressed in what they paid to hear.
Either Chris was white girl wasted or there was a sound issue. Now Chris can sing his ass off. I won’t ever argue that (I mean maybe a little after seeing these videos). I’ve heard the man with my own two ears in person.
He’s put out some damn good staples in country music. Songs that have sold a lot of alcohol at honky tonks too. We’re talking hits likes “Tomorrow”, “Voices”, “The Man I Want to Be”, “Raised on Country” (and I was proudly), “Neon”, “I Can Take It From There”, “Gettin’ You Home” (that song became TikTok famous too) and that’s just to name a few.
TikTok user, @scdowdy87 posted a video of Chris performing “I’m Comin’ Over” with the caption that read…
“When you pay over a hundred dollars to see Chris Young and he’s drunkedy drunk drunk. WOW.”
I get it. When you’re a paying customer…you want to get your moneys worth. This was the opposite of that.
The comment section didn’t take long to draw their public conclusions of believing he was absolutely drunk. I mean it sounds pretty damn rough. I ain’t gonna lie. I can hear it in these videos.
Comments said…
“His concert that I went to was one of my favorites. This is sad.”
“Unacceptable” (that’s always my favorite to say when I didn’t get what I paid for too)
“It’s like watching someone drunk singing karaoke”
“Well this is very disappointing. I love him. He’s my favorite country singer. What a bummer.”
“Omg he sounds horrible”
“Saw him a couple years ago, he was drunk there too…will not pay to see him again.”
This person apparently goes to AA with him and know his life story…
“He must have a drinking problem, he’s going fast, them slow, up and down in volume. He’s definitely drunk.”
Some people were also quick to defend Chris in the comments too though…
“It kinda sounds like he can’t hear himself maybe?”
“It seems like audio issues maybe?? I’ve seen him and he’s great.”
I’ve seen him a quite a bit over the years…and the man can sing. He didn’t sound like this on the multiple occasions I’ve seen him play. There were more videos posted on TikTok from plenty of upset customers. Almost enough for class action lawsuit.
And then there’s this one…
The more videos you see, you have to really start agreeing more and more with the “it’s like watching someone drunk singing karaoke” comment.
First off. I really hate to assume anything, but I think he sounded a little tipsy. Again. The man may or might not have been celebrating the release of his album. I wasn’t there to witness the drinking. Although I’ve celebrated things in my life too…and then proceeded to go into work. Don’t act like you haven’t. A lot of us have. Which is no excuse.
If you’re not Hank Williams Jr…drink in moderation before proceeding to get on stage. Bocephus is a national treasure.
Chris also kind of had the drunk look…and he sure hell sounded over served. If he wasn’t. Then there’s possibly a sound engineering job opening in the Chris Young camp.
