Gavin Adcock Found The Lyrics to His Song, “Last One To Know”, Are Cleary Wrong On Spotify

This might be the real reason why people are singing the wrong lyrics to songs.

Wrong lyrics are being written by someone on websites and music platforms. So, whoever’s writing the lyrics on music platforms and transcribing the lyrics in general, obviously can’t understand country music.

Gavin Adcock posted a couple of pictures on his socials with the look of disappointment on his face from the lyrics of his song “Last One To Know” on Spotify. They’re clearly wrong and they make him look like he might’ve gotten pointers from P. Diddy’s parties.

The lyrics on Spotify and a lot of place read…

“Wild-ass ‘in’ women, hard-ass ‘in’ livin’
I did it to myself near over and over
Yes, me and my buddy Jim put on a hell of a showThey ‘oiled’ me up this mornin’, I was the last one to know”

The song doesn’t say anything about “oiled me up” and you can hear it plan as day. They even added in some other words…but the “oiled me up” part really stands out for obvious reasons. It literally just says “they woke me up this mornin’”. That’s it.

I will say the website genius.com got the lyrics correct…

“Wild-ass women, hard-ass living
Did it to myself, near over and over…Guess me and my buddy Jim put on a hell of a show…They woke me up this morning, I was the last one to know”

I get that sometimes…it’s hard to understand country folks when we talk and sing. But good Lord. If your main job is to write lyrics for platforms and websites for people to learn the lyrics, please get the lyrics right.
