Award shows were just better to watch in 1988.
Thank you TikTok for showing this video gem from the 23rd annual ACM Awards in 1988. Hank Williams Jr. and Reba McEntire performed Hank Williams senior’s classic “Hey, Good Lookin’”.
That was also the same year that Reba took home the Top Female Vocalist award and Hank was crowned the Entertainer of the Year for the second year in a row. I mean the man went on to win the ACM Entertainer of the Year three consecutive times from 1987 to 1989.
The 1980s award shows had no agenda. It was just solid country music and awards handed out to the artists that made the music come to life. It was a simpler and an absolute great time to be alive.
The music, hair and the outfits made it a beautiful time too.
