Here’s a new year and there’s some country songs that are turning 30 years old as of 2026.
It’s insane for me to think that we’re now more than a quarter of the way through this century. Especially if you’re old enough to remember the year 2000, and I clearly am by the way. It seems like that was literally just yesterday for people like me too. It’s almost painful.
I still remember how everyone was kind of freaking out over Y2K and the possibility of computers crashing to cause a global disaster striking at midnight. That didn’t happen by the way. The was another example of the media and the government just lying to us again.
Now we’re actually here to talk about some country music from year of 1996 and there was a lot of music that year that were certified 90s twangers. It’s just hard to accept the fact that these songs are actually 30 years old now.
This was also the same year that Tim McGraw married fellow country star Faith Hill, and Brooks & Dunn’s “My Maria” was nominated for a Grammy. We unfortunately lost the legendary Minnie Pearl and Faron Young in 1996 though. God rest their souls too.
