Dolly Parton passed away on August 25, 2026 at 80 years old in Nashville, Tennessee. She had been dealing with undisclosed health issues for the last year or so, and she previously shared that she was having issues with severe kidney stones. Aside from that, she didn’t share more anymore than that, but clearly there was more going on.
Dolly’s rep ultimately confirmed to People that her death was due to a “brief battle with cancer”. She had been open about her health struggles over the last several months, but the cancer seemed like it was more of recent development that lead up to her passing.
She was one of those celebrities that people loved, Dolly showed up for people every damn day. She received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame back in 1984 and rightfully so.
Her star had been covered with flowers and other tributes upon her passing. Unfortunately somebody decided to find her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and vandalized it. A fan discovered, her name had been scratched off the plaque and flowers had been stolen.
