Nashville Votes Unanimously To Rename The Airport In Honor Of Dolly Parton

This needed to be done.

A few days ago, the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority voted unanimously to rename Nashville International Airport in honor of Dolly Parton.

There used to be a policy in place which required a two-year waiting period before a building could be named after someone who had passed away. This vote bypassed that step though. It is Dolly after all. And I think we can all agree, she’s worth it.

Airport officials say this is just the first step, and now they plan on figuring out how Dolly’s legacy will be included.  A final name has not yet been announced, although Dolly Parton International has been floated. It has a nice ring to it.

They’re also still debating whether the airport will keep its BNA airport code.
