Here’s a List of Some Massively Successful Country Songs That Never Went #1

Our friends at the“Country Chord” put together a list of songs that never made it to #1, even though they were a massive success. It’s hard to believe that some of these songs never hit #1.

But,“Fancy Like” by Walker Hayes did make it to #1, so what does anyone know about anything in “radio” to be honest?

Here are the most surprising country songs never to reach it to the top of the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart:

1. “Amarillo by Morning” by George Strait. Is hands down the best song ever recorded by King George. He’s even said it was his favorite song to record. Unfortunately it only reached #4 in America.  But as a consolation, it did hit #1 in Canada.

2. “Fancy” by Reba McEntire. Reba’s most iconic song only peaked at #8 in 1991.

3. “Crazy” by Patsy Cline. It reached #2 on the Country chart.

4. “Independence Day” by Martina McBride. One of the most powerful Country songs of all-time only got as high as #12 in 1994.

5. “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!” by Shania Twain. It never reached the top spot in the states, but it did get to #1 in New Zealand.

6. “Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy” by Big & Rich. This track is 2x certified platinum, but it couldn’t even crack the top 10 in 2004.

7. “Troubadour” by George Strait. George has landed sixty #1 hits over his career, so it’s surprising that “Troubadour” is not one of them. It’s widely considered to be one his best songs as well.

8. My Kinda Partyby Jason Aldean. It was released during the height of Aldean’s massive popularity.. and it was the title track of his fourth studio album. Surprisingly never went #1. It actually only peaked at #2 in January 2011.
