Brooks & Dunn just changed the lyrics to their own song at a recent show. For a good reason, too.
Back in 2005, they released a song called, “Play Something Country” and the song stills fills my country soul today. The song’s lyrics go, “yeah, the band took a break, the DJ played some P. Diddy…she said, I didn’t come here to hear something thumping from the city.” Those lyrics alone are the truest lyrics ever sung. Especially by true country music fans.
Well, it’s only natural nowadays to distance yourself from Diddy, and at a recent show in Arizona they removed him from the song.
Their new and improved lyrics are still perfect as they went, “yeah, the band took a break, the DJ played something [sh*tty].” I mean Diddy and sh*tty do rhyme pretty perfectly.
Someone on the internet was nice enough to post the new version with the caption saying, “just when I thought I couldn’t love #brooksanddunn anymore…they go and give a big ole F U to the Diddler.”
Interestingly enough, Lainey Wilson is covering the same song on their new album “Reboot 2” which is out this Friday (11/15/24). She decided to keep the reference. That might not age well.
