We’re heading into sunburn season, so here’s a pro tip. When you’re drinking outdoors, apply sunscreen before you get drunk.
A recent study out of Florida Atlantic University found you’re more likely to get a sunburn when you’ve been drinking, and for obvious reasons.
They talked to a bunch of people who’d recently been burned, and around one in five said alcohol was a factor. 22% admitted they’d had a few drinks.
It’s because you’re less likely to apply sunscreen when you’re tipsy…more likely to misjudge how long you’ve been in the sun…and potentially more likely to PASS OUT in the sun.
A few other times you need to remember: 11% said they were working outside when they got sunburned…10% were swimming…and 7% were exercising.
The real time to pay attention is when you’re doing more than one of those things. 43% said they were “multitasking” when it happened.
