Last week, Luke Combs made headlines by saying the best country music comes from the state of Kentucky.
He said he wanted to say North Carolina, where he’s from…but the Bluegrass State just has too much star power. To be fair, Chris Stapleton is from Kentucky…so, that’s hard to argue.
He also said Texas was stacked with George Strait, and obviously Tennessee with Kenny Chesney and Morgan Wallen are strong states, too.
Here’s a list of the states that produce the best country music, according to “Whiskey Riff”:
1. Texas. King George Strait…Willie Nelson…Miranda Lambert…and Cody Johnson make the Lone Star state #1.
2. Oklahoma. Reba McEntire…Carrie Underwood…Garth Brooks…Blake Shelton…and the late Big Dog Toby Keith.
3. Kentucky. Chris Stapleton…Tyler Childers…the late great Keith Whitley…and Sturgill Simpson.
4. Alabama. Jason Isbell…Riley Green…Ella Langley…and of course, the great Alabama.
5. West Virginia. Charles Wesley Godwin…Sierra Ferrell…and Brad Paisley.
How is Tennessee’s not in the Top Five? It’s Tennessee. It’s where they supposedly make country music.
