If you had to guess the most-played artists on country radio right now, who would you say? Morgan Wallen? You’d be right.
The should absolutely be the most played artist on country radio given he’s the most popular artist on the planet as of now. Absent from this list are the women in country music.
I would think we’d at least see Lainey Wilson’s name appear in the Top Ten. It’s the top ten.
Now according to Mediabase (which is only radio airplay) here are the most-played artists on country radio:

Again. Where are the woman of country music? Lainey is selling out every night of her “Whirlwind World Tour”, and I know people who are going to her shows wouldn’t mind hearing her on the radio.
Ella Langley and Megan Moroney are killing it in country music last I checked. Then we have names like Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood who fans obviously know as well are also missing from this list.
We should also mention this guy named Zach Top. You know Alan Jackson’s kid. The man who country music fans have been praying for and who’s attracting large audiences everywhere he goes is not on the top ten most played country artist list for radio. Is this a joke?
Country radio needs to do better at catching up to what’s popular and quit being afraid playing what country fans want to hear. Streaming numbers don’t lie, because the numbers make up for what people are listening to in real time.
