I’m proud of this guy.
This is a big step in the right direction. Zach Bryan posted a long message on Instagram saying that he’s been sober for almost two months now.
He told fans this isn’t some “greater than thou sentiment”, and he knows he is lucky, but he wanted to speak up because so many people struggle in silence.
Zach said a long motorcycle trip across the country helped him see he “really needed” support.
Keep in mind, Zach served in the Navy for 10 years, then immediately got launched into sudden fame. He said a lot of that pressure built up without him noticing. Let’s be real. Life and fame can f*ck a person up.
He admitted he was reaching for alcohol not for the taste but because there was, “a black hole in him that always needed its void filled.”
But now he’s working with a therapist to help him change the way he copes. Now he says, “I feel great. I feel content. I feel whole.”
He reminded everyone that, “it’s OK to be weak at times and need help.”
