Lee Brice debuted a bean new, politically charged song titled “Country Nowadays” on Turning Point USA’s “All-American Halftime Show” on February 8, 2026.
The song addresses his perspective on the modern American culture and the difficulty of maintaining traditional values in the current social climate. “Country Nowadays” includes lyrics about the frustration of being labeled “right-wing” for his upbringing and touches on divisive topics like gun control and gender identity.
One verse and line in particular really seemed to resonate with a lot of people…and piss off a lot of people at the same time on social media.
“I just want to cut my grass, feed my dog, wear my boots
Not turn the TV on, sit and watch the evening news…Be told if I tell my own daughter…That little boys ain’t little girls…I’ll be up a creek in hot water…In this cancel-your-a** world”
As a girl dad myself…I felt that. And the course definitely resonates with Christians who grew up in the south.
“It ain’t easy being country…in this country nowadays…The directions, the finger pointing…When everything goes up in flames…Saying I’m some right-wing devil…because I was down South Jesus raised…It ain’t easy being country…in this country nowadays…in this country nowadays.”
Of course there were people who shared their shitty opinions in the comment section of Lee Brice’s Instagram post…and Joy got really winded in her response.

As for people with good taste in music and morals. “Country Nowadays” will be dropping everywhere on February 19, 2026.
