It’s hard to imagine candy corn getting more divisive, but this could do it. There’s now a candy corn…beer ladies and gentlemen.
So, the fighting begin. Shock Top has unveiled a new “Candy Corn Wheat“…a limited-edition beer they’ve created with Spirit Halloween. It’s a 5% ABV, so yeah, this is definitely an adult thing.
They say it’s already available at “select beverage retailers,” and it sounds like there’s a chance it could become a regular…seasonal thing if it sells.
As for the flavor, someone who tried it said, “the sweetness is surprisingly restrained while still very much tasting like a wheat beer. The candy corn flavor is definitely present, but it’s more of a little ‘Halloween flourish’ than something beating you over the head with a plastic pumpkin bucket full of sugar.”
In the comments, people shared some thoughts…
One said, “that is diabolical.” Someone else said, “bro, I’m so ready to try this,” while one solid beer drinker added, “I neeed to try it.” God bless them too.
And there were also plenty of grimacing and vomiting GIFs that made it abundantly clear where they stood. The candy corn hate is real y’all.
Someone is asking for them to make a non-alcoholic version . . . and someone else said, “So sick!” It’s unclear if they said that because they thought this was awesome, or if they’d just drank a bottle and weren’t feeling great.
The other part of the collab is that Spirit Halloween’s website is carrying a “Wedgehead Costume,” featuring Shock Top’s mascot. It’s priced at $70. I know…that’s f*cking expensive.
To be clear…neither of these will be available at Spirit. The costume is an online-only exclusive (possibly because it’s a beer mascot). And as for the Candy Corn beer…it’s at select stores that sell alcohol. Obviously.
