Parker McCollum’s New Self-Titled Album Is Sitting At #2 On Apple Music’s Top Country Albums Chart

Parker McCollum is having a big week.

His 5th studio self-titled album is finally here. It’s being heard loud and clear too. It’s currently sitting at #2 on Apple Music’s top country albums chart right behind Morgan Wallen’s album “I’m The Problem”.

He talked with Bobby Bones and Parker admitted how this new album is the album he always wondered if he was good enough to make. I absolutely think he is and this album proves that. He talked about how it’s a super personal record, really raw, and it came together easily for him in the studio.

He didn’t have a title that he was really in love with, which is why went for the self-titled approach. Parker also talked about how he isn’t a big fan of co-writing, he’d rather write songs alone. He does have one song that does have a co-writer on this new project, that song is called “Hope That I’m Enough”, which was actually inspired by his wife. The song is simply perfect if you ask me.

Then there’s another song on this new album that’s actually the first ever song he ever recorded in life. Parker recorded this particular song when he was 20-years-old, he cut an EP in Austin, Texas and the song “Permanent Headphones” was born. The powers that be wanted an official cut of the song, but it was a hard no. Parker wrote his first song in a Jack in the Box parking lot when he was 15-years-old. He then of course let his brother listen to it and that’s when his brother told him that he considered him to be a real songwriter. Getting your big brother’s blessing is a big thing to a 15 year old too. Now the song has new life on this new record.

There are 14 songs on this new self-titled album from Parker and this is an amazing piece of work from him. Since the “Limestone Kid” album in 2015, I feel Parker really found that kid who loves music more than life itself is back.
