Luke Combs just passed Garth Brooks as the most RIAA-certified country artist in history.
According to the Recording Industry Association of America, Luke now holds 168 million certified units from sales and streams. That tops Garth’s long-standing record of 162.5 million total.
This makes Luke not just country’s new all-time leader, but also one of the most successful artists across all genres. He’s currently ranked ninth overall.
Luke reacted to the news with genuine disbelief. As anyone would knowing what Garth achieved.
He said, “when my team first told me about this, my initial reaction was, ‘Are you sure? There’s no way’…I’m super humbled by the fans’ belief in me and support of my music. This achievement is more so theirs than it is mine.”
Keep in mind, he only got his first gold plaque eight years ago. He’s already the highest-selling country artist of all time in basically just a 9 year span of being a professional country artist. Luke released his first single, “Hurricane”, in 2016 putting him on the country music map.
It’s good to be Luke Combs right now to say the least.
