The Super Bowl halftime show is one of the biggest stages in all of music, and country has barely been invited.
The last time country artists appeared in the halftime show was back in 1994, when Clint Black, Tanya Tucker, Travis Tritt, Wynonna Judd, and Naomi Judd shared the stage. It was absolutely glorious too.
“Taste of Country” put out a list of 15 country artists that could play a Super Bowl halftime show. Here are the four that have the best shot according to the numbers they keep putting up in the streaming and touring world. They’re basically household names.
You’ve got Morgan Wallen…Luke Combs…Lainey Wilson…and King George Strait. Four more to add to that list would easily be, Kenny Chesney, Blake Shelton, Carrie Underwood and Luke Bryan.
You can check out the rest of Taste of Country’s list here. We just need one of them picked. The NFL needs to make this happen.
Kid Rock closed out Turning Point USA’s “All-American Halftime Show” with a cover of Cody Johnson’s chart-topping massive hit song, “‘Til’ You Can’t”, featuring a new faith-based verse he wrote.
Kid Rock first performed the cover at the Hondo Rodeo Fest last fall, adding a new, personal verse dedicated to the late TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk. The new lyrics focus on faith and redemption, with lines about dusting off a Bible and giving your life to Jesus.
Kid said, “You know, I awoke on a Sunday morning, all alone, stuck in my head. And in that moment, something or someone spoke to me. They said there was still a verse that still needed to be written for this song, and to get up and write it down.”
That new verse hits home for a lot of Christians too…
“There’s a book that’s sitting in your house somewhere that could use some dusting off…There’s a man that died for all our sins hanging from the cross…You can give your life to Jesus and he’ll give you a second chance…‘Til you can’t, ’til you can’t.”
I know some people are calling the alternative halftime show hateful and divisive…but everything I watched was not that. The “All-American Halftime Show” took me to church and I’m good with that.
By Monday afternoon, Kid Rock’s version of “‘Til You Can’t“, which was released at midnight on Monday (2/9/26), and less than 24 hours after he performed it at Turning Point USA’s “All-American Halftime Show”…sat at #1 on the all-genre iTunes chart. Definitely not bad for a song talking about Jesus.
Lee Brice debuted a bean new, politically charged song titled “Country Nowadays” on Turning Point USA’s “All-American Halftime Show” on February 8, 2026.
The song addresses his perspective on the modern American culture and the difficulty of maintaining traditional values in the current social climate. “Country Nowadays” includes lyrics about the frustration of being labeled “right-wing” for his upbringing and touches on divisive topics like gun control and gender identity.
One verse and line in particular really seemed to resonate with a lot of people…and piss off a lot of people at the same time on social media.
“I just want to cut my grass, feed my dog, wear my boots Not turn the TV on, sit and watch the evening news…Be told if I tell my own daughter…That little boys ain’t little girls…I’ll be up a creek in hot water…In this cancel-your-a** world”
As a girl dad myself…I felt that. And the course definitely resonates with Christians who grew up in the south.
“It ain’t easy being country…in this country nowadays…The directions, the finger pointing…When everything goes up in flames…Saying I’m some right-wing devil…because I was down South Jesus raised…It ain’t easy being country…in this country nowadays…in this country nowadays.”
Of course there were people who shared their shitty opinions in the comment section of Lee Brice’s Instagram post…and Joy got really winded in her response.
As for people with good taste in music and morals. “Country Nowadays” will be dropping everywhere on February 19, 2026.
Cody Johnson just dropped some news fans have been waiting for.
He was asked in an interview if there will be any collaborations on his new album, and Cody said, “me and Luke Combs cut one together…we finally got that done.”
The two have been friends for years, and even toured Australia and New Zealand together. Now their friendship is officially hitting the studio.
Cody also revealed he has a song with Brothers Osborne on the new album, too. Details of the new record are still under wraps, but I’m sure we will be teased about it soon. And this new album from COJO can’t get here soon enough.
Ella Langley is on top of the music world right now and my country heart is happy that this song of hers is where it needs to be.
This week, “Choosin’ Texas” rose to #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100. This makes Ella just the seventh woman in history to top the all-genre chart with a country song.
That elite list includes Dolly Parton, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift, Kacey Musgraves, Jeannie C. Riley…and Beyoncé.
On top of that, Ella is also now the first female artist ever to hold the #1 spots on the Hot Country Songs chart, Country Airplay, and the Hot 100 at the same time.
The song was released back on October 7th, and it has been on a tear ever since. “Choosin’ Texas”also became the fastest solo female song to hit the Top 10 on country radio this decade. I mean this song is a certified twanger and there are a ton of videos on the internet with that song attached to it to prove it. We also have Miranda Lambert and her kangaroo to thank for this song…and God bless Texas.
Huntsville, AL was treated to a real 90s country night.
The Von Braun Center in downtown Huntsville, Alabama, hosted the “All-Star Salute To ‘90s Country: Honky Tonk Time Machine” this past Thursday night, February 5, 2026, with over 30 artists performing hit after hit for a sold-out crowd. The audience ranging in ages from 5 to 85 were on their feet most of the night dancing in the aisles and singing every word to songs that helped shape their lives. The event was filmed for an upcoming television broadcast, which will air at a later date.
The night included 17 chart-topping performances with special tributes to Daryle Singletary, Kevin Sharp, Randy Travis and George Jones; as well as three historic throwback moments from award-winning artists Janie Fricke (Female Vocalist of the Year), Lee Greenwood (Male Vocalist of the Year), and The Forester Sisters (Group of the Year).
Executive producer Bob Romeo said, “this event was a reunion of sorts for so many of these artists. Some still continue to tour while others not so much, however, backstage was nothing short of a love-fest and provided a much-needed reunion for everyone.”
“This show is going to be one that is talked about for years to come. Watching the audience sing the words to practically every song back to the artists as they were performing proved what an impact 90s Country music had on those that grew up listening to it,” adds executive producer Frank Matassa of LMA Productions, Inc. “The songs, the artists, the memories, and the final television show is going to be something very special for the television audience no matter what age is watching.”
The most divisive Super Bowl just wrapped up…and no…I didn’t watch Bugs Bunny’s halftime show. I actually enjoyed the alternative programming Turning Point USA had to offer.
Here are the highlights of the Turning Point USA halftime show:
1. On the TP USA YouTube channel, the viewership hovered around 4 million throughout. And it peaked at 6.1 million.
2. It was a fully packed show. It started the moment the clock hit zero at the end of the first half. And it wrapped up after the Patriots had already run two plays in the second half.
3. It started with a sweet rendition of the National Anthem on electric guitar. Then Brantley Gilbert sang “Real American” and “Dirt Road Anthem”.
4. Gabby Barrett sounded great for her two songs, and Lee Brice sang “Drinking Class”, “Hard To Love” and a new song called “Country Nowadays”, which drops February 19th.
5. Kid Rock came out and sang his biggest hit, “Bawitdaba”…then there was a violin and cello duet . . . and then he closed it down with his version of “Till You Can’t”.
6. Then the show ended with a tribute to Charlie Kirk.
If you were Googling, “has there ever been a Super Bowl without a touchdown?” yesterday…you weren’t alone.
There were no touchdowns scored through three quarters yesterday, but then there were four scored in the fourth…two by each team. But one team also had five field goals…and the other had none.
The Seattle Seahawks destroyed the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 60 yesterday, 29-to-13…but Seattle kicker Jason Myers was the only one to score until the final quarter. Now when we say destroyed, we really mean man handled. I still don’t know how the Patriots even managed to make it the big game playing the way did against the Seahawks. At least the ass whooping is over now and we can all move on. Especially the Patriots.
Seattle was up 3-0 after one…9-0 at halftime…and 12-0 after three. At that point, people started Googling about a potential, historic shutout.
For the record. There has never been a Super Bowl without a touchdown…there has never been a shut-out in the Super Bowl…and with the late offensive surge, the lowest scoring Super Bowl in history will still be the 2019 Super Bowl, where the Patriots beat the Los Angeles Rams, 13-3.
Speaking of 2019, that was the year that Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold made the infamous comment that he was “seeing ghosts.” Darnold was with the New York Jets at the time, but that game was also against the Patriots.
Darnold “seeing ghosts” became a meme, but he was finally able to do some ghost-busting in the Super Bowl…while his opponent, Patriots QB Drake Maye, struggled to get anything going against Seattle’s ghastly defense.
Darnold was not the MVP though. Seattle running back Kenneth Walker the Third was named the Super Bowl MVP.
It was well-deserved. For most of the game, he was the only player, on either side, gaining any yardage. He finished with 135 yards on 27 carries…plus 26 yards on two catches.
This win was revenge for the Seahawks and their fans, The 12s…(or “the 12th man”)…after they lost to the Patriots in the Super Bowl 11 years ago.
In that one, Tom Brady and the Patriots came back from behind to defeat Russell Wilson and the Seahawks 28-to-24. That was when the Seahawks decided throw from the 1-yard line, rather than giving it to Marshawn Lynch.
This was the 10th Super Bowl rematch in NFL history…and the winner of the first meeting is now 6-4 in the second meeting.
Zach Bryan headlined the 2026 “Madden Bowl” on Friday night at San Francisco’s Chase Center…but fans noticed something was different.
His usual piano player was missing. Instead, it was Christian McCaffrey from the San Francisco 49ers on the keys.
I mean if you’re going to headline the “Madden Bowl”…you might as well have a NFL player playing piano for you. The crowd lost it as Christian played a pretty sweet solo too.
Afterward, Zach thanked him online saying, “thank you to my brother Christian McCaffrey filling in on keys tonight…we love ya always!”
Okay…thins relationship is starting to resemble a bad country song and it’s making my head hurt.
According to “Us Weekly”, Kelsea Ballerini and Chase Stokes ended things…again.
This comes only weeks after confirming they were back together. So, in case you’re keeping score, this is their third official breakup.
A source said Kelsea is, “taking it better” this time…but Chase “still isn’t ready to give up.” It sounds like she might be being difficult.
Fans noticed when the drama started on Friday, after Kelsea unfollowed Chase on Instagram. But he’s still following her. It’s all really confusing to be honest. As most women are for us men.
We aren’t mind readers. We’re just men and we’re absolutely different from women. We like sports, cold beer and talking shit. And on occasion…we remember what our significant other said to us the day before. We really mean well though. There’s just not as much that’s going on in our mind as the women we love. We are usually a little more simple…as human beings.
If any couple really wants to be together…they will. Being with anyone takes work and a lot of compromise.
